Chinese Panda Gold Coins
Gold Panda coins from China were first minted in 1982. The Panda is .999 fine gold. In 1982, the Panda had no denomination, so they weren't listed as a coin by The Standard Catalog of World Coins. However, in 1983, the denominations were added to all the coins, so there were no more issues with being listed in the coin catalogs.
In 1983, China added several smaller gold coins, including the 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and the 1/20oz. For the larger investor, several years also included a 5oz or a 12oz coin. Gold Pandas are also issued as proof coins for collectors in a limited edition.
The 2011 Chinese gold and silver Panda coins are now on sale. They have grown in popularity with collectors and investors alike due to the beautiful new panda designs used each year. As usual, the 2011 Gold Pandas are available in 1 oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and the 1/20oz sizes. The 2011 Silver Chinese Pandas are also now on sale.
